2025 February Masters Camp
By Roddy Ward
Super fun and focused February group! We had some serious technique keeners, despite the -20 and below temperatures for the final 2 days!
Here is what we accomplished over the camp.
Beautiful Friday skiing with a lot of technique work on body positions. We knew the cold weather was coming so we stayed outside a lot this day!
3 very cold technique (but beautiful blue sky) sessions with many technique drills to keep us moving! Despite the cold we were very productive.
Extended lunchtime ski technique, presentations, and social time. Everyone was very keen to talk technique!
TONS of personalized feedback through video analysis sessions each day.
Strength training for cross country skiing, delivered by Neil Fox! Lifeworks.
Sport dietician, Kelly Drager (Calgary Sport Institute) delivered a nutrition talk about fueling over the long term for masters cross country ski training.
Team dinner & social at Table Canmore! Silvia Settler was our guest speaker. Sylvia took us through her journey of starting skiing in her 40’s, finding her competitiveness (her “horns” that she discovered), and all the amazing aspects of her life as a Nordic skier. Sylvia has raced 11 international loppets and 17 Masters World Cups! She is also a multiple GOLD medals at Masters World Cup, despite starting the sport late.
As usual, big thanks to the Canmore Nordic Centre for hosting us. Thanks to our camp cater Cornerstone Cafe. And last a big thanks to Trail Sports for our continued partnership on these camps! Two years behind us and many more to come!
A cold but productive day in February :)
A warm ski specific session led by Neil Fox! A great coach for masters skiers!
I love winter! All ready with my buff, wool sweater, and a backpack with my iPad and safety supplies!
Canmore when the cold settles into the valley. Beautiful!
